Tetsu Okuhara was
born in Los Angeles, CA in 1940 and lived in a Japanese internment
camp in Colorado from 1942-1944. In the early 1970's Mr. Okuhara
took thousands of detailed photographic images of his model
and then wife Susan. For the past thirty years he continuously
recreates and combines these contact prints producing composite
portraits of Susan. His photomontages, created using a minimalist
grid, are abstract, idealized, surreal, and sometimes symmetrical
however they never lose sight of the importance of the human
form.
